When the history enters the 21st century, the Tibetan high education, like other components of the Chinese education system, is faced with austere challenges. To enhance studies on the Tibetan high education and to promote its modernization process are of great significance for realizing the modernization of Chinese education system, accelerating the development of the Tibetan economy as well as maintaining the national unity and the stability of the country border.This thesis starts its analysis from the point that the economic and education development, the regional peace and stability of Tibet imminently call for the modernization of high education. After thorough analysis, the thesis expounds and proves the necessity and significance of the modernization of high education, that is, its modernization is beneficial to the development of the Tibetan social economy, to the cultural exchange between Tibet and the world outside, to the steady development of the Tibetan society, and to the social stability of the whole country. The thesis also probes into the problems that lie in the modernization process of the Tibetan high education, arguing that the educational modernization should include the modernization of the educational concepts, educational management system, educational structure and educational staff. Accordingly, the thesis put forward the following measures for the modernization of the Tibetan high education.Set up a mixed high education management system oriented to the market and the society, so as to push the modernization of educational management.Enhance the build-up of subjects and specialties to meet the needs of regional economic development and to promote the modernization of courses and educational contents.Develop the high vocational schooling, implement a multi-level education system, and change the single-sector education structure to a pluralistic one, hence to fulfill the modernization of educational structure.Change the educational concepts and put forward its modernization.
