Does the relationship between physical exercise and physical self-worth of middle school students exist? What kind of physical exercise pattern can positive effects have on physical self-worth? What is the psychological mechanism physical exercise has on it? With regard to all these questions and the like, this research gives a relatively systematic analysis on the studies at home and abroad about the relationship between physical exercise and physical self-worth, on the basis of which the shortcomings of the studies in this field and theoretical hypothesis model for the psychological mechanism of the influence physical exercise has upon physical self-worth of middle school students are presented. Many methods have been employed to probe into this research, such as literature review, logics, questionnaire, psychology survey, mathematical statistics, etc.A questionnaire survey of physical exercise and physical self-worth was made on 1430 middle school students. On the base of the investigation, the relationship between physical exercise and physical self-worth has undergone two-way ANOVA analysis and structural equation modeling analysis. The result shows as follows:1) The middle school students taking exercise have stronger physical self-worth than those who have not exercised.2) The bigger physical exercise capacity, the stronger impact physical exercise will have on physical self-worth of middle school students. At the same time, the longer duration of physical exercise, the stronger impact physical exercise will also have on physical self-worth of middle school students.3) The bigger physical exercise capacity, the stronger impact the duration of physical exercise will have on physical self-worth of middle school students. At grade 2 and 3, namely medium exercise capacity and large exercise capacity, physical self-worth presents the V curve, with the duration of physical exercise increasing.4) Physical exercise indirectly has impact on physical self-worth of middle school students through affecting perception of sport competence, health, attractive body and strength.
