The training for the International Olympic Biology Competition is not only a variety of outreach of and supplement to the classroom teaching and learning but in fact a sort of elite education. It is quite different from the education for ordinary learners in quite a few aspects such as the training goals, the training procedures, the training methods, etc. This present article will deal with the topic in the two following aspects:Both the Nationwide Biology Tournament and the International Olympic Biology Competition calls for much more of competitors in experiment as well as theory than the middle-school textbook of biology does to the students. So the trainer should give a list of bilateral detailed goals in each unit according to the outlines of the NBT and International Olympic biology Competition so that the trainee can try to fulfil each listed item. And it is equally important to establish a question bank for the purpose of checking and feedbacking the trainee's knowledge and ability by regular examinations.Since the training for the International Olympic biology Competition is a sort of elite education, which calls for a quick improvement of the trainee's competitive ability in a short time on the basis of his excellent comprehensive quality, a complete series of gradual training strategies are necessary so as to extend what the trainee has mastered about the basic content of middle-school biology up to the level he should arrive at when joining in the International Olympic biology Competition. The check-ups of the ability in experiment are just as important as the examinations in theory in the Competition. Under the influence of the education just for examinations for a long time, however, the middle-school students in our country are universally poor in experiment as compared with those fromother countries. So here this present article also gives a description of thepresent level of our trainees' ability in experiment and introduces some strategies for improving the trainee's ability in experiment.
