As an addition made to the new courses, plane vector is a concept combined algebra with geometry and is closely connected with other chapters. This thesis mainly illustrates the cognitive process of the concept of plane vector and other concepts (module). 30 high school students who are in three grades were investigated. Half of the students are excellent and the other are slow learners. Questionnaires interviews and case study were the main methods for the study .The findings slow three aspects about how the students understand the concept of plane vector and other related concepts (For instance, module): (1) The concept of plane vector is understood from the perspective of algebraic expression. (2) The concept of plane vector is understood from the perspective of geometry (3) The concept of plane vector is understood comprhersively. Based on the cognitive psychology theory .the cognitive characteristics of the students in these two groups as well as their causes are analyzed.The study slows that these are some cognitive difficult paints in the learning of students learning of students' understanding of the of plane vector is affected by some factors :(1) The concept of triangular ratio and triangle fromule (2) Reorganization and deep understanding of the plane vector which are promoted by the learning of triangular representation of plane vector (3) The teacher's beliefs, teaching methods and college entrance examination.(4) The system of knowledge organized in teaching materials .Case study slows that how students' different thinking styles: algebraic style .geometrical style and so called balancing style .affect the learning of plane vector .Some characteristics are analyzed .Algebraic style tends towards abstract thinking . plane vector tends towards concrete thinking and so called balancing style shows the balanced development of abstract thinking and concrete thinking.Four suggestions for teaching are proposed based on the analysis of students learning: (1)In the process of teaching plane vector .students' preparations of related knowledge must be paid attention to. (2)Students' ability of applying must plane vector be fostered. (3) Students' symbol sense should be developed. (4)Students' learning experience in the learning must be emphasized.
