With the further enhancement of globalization, China is contacting the whole world more and more frequently. Owing to the rapid socioeconomic development and the speedy advancement of science and technology, the overall knowledge of the world multiplies every seven or eight years. Therefore, what the human race faces nowadays is an information era of knowledge explosion. The status of English has become increasingly important not only for the students' lifelong learning but also their future work and life. The foreign language teaching in our country is facing such pressing issues of research and practice as strengthening the cultivation of the students' capacity and the development of their mentality.It is well known that the overall quality of the secondary vocational school students is uneven. Generally, they're tired of learning. Their English, especially, is far from the ideal standard. The status quo of their learning, in fact, has brought great difficulties and challenges to English teaching in vocational schools. As a member of the team of the vocational education studies, I consider it my responsibility and obligation to analyze and research the problems and obstacles, which the secondary vocational school students encounter in their English learning process. Moreover, it's also practical to seek more appropriate English learning strategies in order to achieve the "employment-oriented" vocational education English teaching objectives, and effectively improve the students' applying abilities in English.This thesis mainly consists of the following parts. Chapter I IntroductionChapter I mainly states such topics as "proposition of the questions, the importance and urgency of vocational education with Chinese characteristics, the important status of English in today's society, literature synthesis, the foundation of my research and the breakthrough in the research, the methodologies, target, purpose and meaning of the research.
