English, as an international language and a tool of communication in learning advanced science and technology, is playing a vitally important role in leading people on the way to the world. English teaching can equip learners with capacities for effective communication around the world. With the global integration advancement and the economy, society's development, English teaching is set a higher request .Listening and speaking abilities are the basic skills for English learners. It is of great significance to build up the students'listening and speaking skills by using various activities. This essay is from the theory to practice. It starts with the theory of building up the students'listening and speaking skills. We discover some problems through the questionnaire and the talk with the teachers, and we have to solve them by switching the teachers'skills in teaching. The improvement of the students'listening and speaking ability depends on the proper teaching activities based on corporative study and autonomous learning. This paper includes five parts:The first part is the introduction of the paper. It briefly introduces the contents and views of the paper by introducing the importance of the listening and speaking ability and the present condition of the daily listening and speaking teaching.The second part introduces the theory of how to foster the students'English listening and speaking ability and the study actuality of it, and then bring out the defination and the characteristics of English classroom activity. English teachers should organize various active classroom activities in the direction of the new course theory.The third part is the investigation part. A questionnaire is used to investigate the students'listening and speaking abilities and the classroom activities in Changchun Foreign Languages School. English teachers in Changchun Foreign Languages School were also interviewed in order to get a further understanding of the present conditions. The results are analyzed. The fourth part is about the teaching suggestions. Teachers can organize various classroom activities following the principles of corporative study and researching study mode to improve their listening and speaking skills, as well as their communicative competence.The last part is the conclusion of the paper. The method can maintain students' motivation, make students learn English in a natural process by creating contexts which support learning. In other words, students are always involved in the real use of English. Thus, students are helped to acquire communicative competence.
