On Mr. Tan Ka-Kee's Spirits In The Building Of A Harmonious Campus

Building a harmonious socialist society is not only a long-term historic task throughout the whole process of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, but a key issue in the building of a well-off society in an all-round way. The building of a harmonious campus is the embodiment and prerequisite of building a harmonious socialist society and it also depends greatly on the basis of the existing wealth of spirits. As a noted educator and industrialist, Mr. Tan Ka-kee devoted all his belongings to the prosperity of our country's education. His great deeds provide us with valuable wealth of spirits in the building of a harmonious campus. As a result, this paper combines the research on the building of a harmonious campus with Tan Ka-kee's spirits on the purpose of offering a brand-new scientific research field, thus to promote and enrich the research of the building of a harmonious campus.The first part of this paper states the composition and significance of the building of a harmonious campus. It probes into the connotation of"harmony"and then puts forward the characteristics of a harmonious campus: ideal campus spirits, high-grade humanistic atmosphere and scientific management system. It also points out the relationship between a harmonious campus and a harmonious society: a part and the integrity, but inter-stimulative. And finally, it dips into the significance of the building of a harmonious campus.The second part expounds the values of Tan Ka-kee's spirits in the building of a harmonious campus in the new era. To begin with, it elaborates the connotation of Tan Ka-kee's spirits: civism of the destiny of a country and its people, sublimate personality and scientific research spirits. Then it analyses the dialectic relationship between the building of a harmonious campus and the carrying forward of Tan Ka-kee's spirits. Lastly, it dissertates the significance of Tan Ka-kee's spirits on the building of a harmonious campus in the new era.The last part analyses the main problems in the building of a harmonious campus: nowadays,the cultivation of citizenship awareness is unmature,the standard ofmorality is declining,the idealism and faith are far from sufficient,the ideology of instructive guidance and the method of management are a bit deviated. Based on the above analysis, it puts forwards some tentative measures on how to build a harmonious campus under the guidelines of the characteristics of Tan Ka-kee's spirits.The originalities of this paper are: perseverance in the basic standpoints of historic materialism, exerting developmental viewpoints to analyze problems, and dig deep into the connotation and time value of Tan Ka-kee's spirits in the new era with the combination of developmental ideas.
