With the rapid development of modern society, Noise pollution has also become a great environmental problem. Perceived as an environmental stressor and nuisance, noise does have many negative influences on people's health, well-being and life quality. Young children especially represent a group which is particularly vulnerable to the health effects of noise, because they are still developing both physically and cognitively. Moreover, in the view of the fact that young children have less cognitive capacity to understand and lack well-developed coping strategies, expose to noise may have irreversible negative consequences for them. Continuous noise and intermittent noise are two different kinds of noise which commonly exist in children's daily life, both of them influence children's behaviors obviously. From the perspective of Baker & Wright's theory of ecological psychology, this thesis studies and analyzes, children's behaviors in two different character of noisy settings, namely continuous noise and intermittent noise, through observing video. We expect to clarify the relationship between this two different noise and their effects on certain aspect of children's behaviors respectively, and then make a comparison between them. We find: 1, Compared with the non-imposed noisy setting, both continuous noise and intermittent noise cause obvious changes of children's behaviors. 2, In the condition of uniform time, continuous noise has more significantly influence on children's behaviors than intermittent noise does. 3, The two different character of noise influence different aspects of children's behaviors respectively. Continuous noise tends to make children cease their current activities, while intermittent noise tends to make children convert their activities. 4, In certain conditions, children who in the intermittent noisy setting tends to create their new, aggressive activity themes. 5, Although in the interim of intermittent noise, children are also in a so-called "non-imposed noisy setting" , it has essential differences with non-imposed noisy setting. 6,Individual behaviors are mostly determined by the whole setting around them, and less by his individual factors. This thesis also provides some valuable significance and proposals for our researchers and practitioners of early childhood education in further improving children's living circumstances, especially kindergarten acoustics, and decreasing maximally the negative influence of continuous noise and intermittent noise on children. We expect that we can arouse people's attention to different character of noise and its harmful influence on children's development through this study, and do our utmost to build an optimal environment for our children's development.
