Study On The Quality Assurance Of Graduate Education In Local College

With the progress of the massive higher education, the quality of graduate education in our country is paid much more attention by correlative stake-holders and become the focus after the expansion of the graduate students in 1999. The assessment of the educational quality of graduates depends on the people's understanding and their viewpoints, their standard on the educational quality. By using the method of documentary research, the historical investigation and the comparative study, this paper defines the correlative concepts scientifically, choose the quality of graduates'education in local college as the research subject,sample is some local college in Jiangsu province which obtained the master's degree grant recently (sample volume is 272), according to the whole course of the graduates'education which includes the state of the graduates and their supervisors, the study of curriculum, scientific research, degree papers, the job-hunting, the evaluation of the educational quality and so on, the author devise the questionnaire , make positivism research by the result of the questionnaire and the interview with the supervisors personally, so the author can know the real state of the graduates'education in its cultivated unit-the minor unit of the graduates'education in-depth, find out the problems and make an explore on their causes earnestly, put forward the some suggestions which based on the above research, constitute the quality assurance system of graduate education which can serve for the quality assurance practice of the graduates'education in local college.This paper is divided into six parts: Part I is preface, the author make analysis of the background and put forward the research subject, clarify the significance of this research and show the scientific research method; Part II is the theoretical basis of this paper, by using the method of documentary research, the historical investigation and the comparative study ,we can analyze the concept and then define the main terms, it can help clarify the research way in the mind and construct the corresponded inner logical system. While it introduce some theoretical basis depended by this research, such as the theory of developmental stage in higher education, the educational law of interior and exterior, the theory of social function of higher school and the total quality management theory; Part III is the analysis of the result of questionnaire, mainly on such nine points as the graduate's personal state, the evaluation of the graduate-recruitment system, the state of supervisors, the study of curriculum, the degree papers, the inner management, the whole study state of the graduates, the outlook of the job-hunting and the whole evaluation of the educational quality of the graduates. Part IV is the analysis of the quality problems in the educational unit of the graduates from three angles of views of the notion, the reality and the style of study. Part V draw conclusions from the investigation, that is as follows: as the basic unit of the graduates'education, the local colleges have such problems as misplace their poles , faint about their goals, dim about the conscious of quality, fall short of the applicants, different in the students'capability, the quality and quantity of the supervisors can not meet with the need of the graduates'education, the course-teaching is just the same as the undergraduates', the management is nonstandard, the educational quality is not optimistic and so on. Part VI is the suggestions and the countermeasures. Aim at these problems, this paper put forward such countermeasures as follows: as the cultivating unit, the local college should turnabout its conception, strengthen the conscious of quality, make a point correctly, work out the cultivating object scientifically, put more efforts on the construction of the supervisors , promote the capability of the graduates by the supervisors'supervision, innovate the cultivating system and inaugurate the new model of the graduates'cultivation, deepen the innovation of teaching and scientific research, give prominence to the cultivation of the innovative ability, strengthen the construction of system, implement the scientific formal and high-efficiency management and construct the perfect quality assurance system of graduates, build the dense academic atmosphere, promote the grown-up of the graduates. After the expansion of graduates scale in recent years, the local colleges should make classification and make point in advance, make emphases on the construction of supervisors; the key is to explore the suitable cultivating model, while the innovation is the end-result of the quality assurance system of the graduates.The innovation of this research lies in the choosing of the researching object, it is not research on the educational quality of the graduates extensively but on certain college in Jiangsu province, make research on the real problems in the graduate's education in the local college which is newly-granted the right to award the master's degree. By clearing the conception and thinking the theory, this paper put forward the suggestions aim at the concrete problems , initially construct the quality assurance system which includes the system of quality management, the system of quality supervision, the system of quality feed back, while all these research has the consultative value for the research object. This research apply the tablet designed by the author himself, it is not adequate to make the deep analysis of the data; the application of this research result has its limitation. All of these are the insufficiency of this research; it is need to make the further research on this subject.
