On Ideological And Political Education Of Higher Vocational College Students

The 1500 vocational colleges in China, accounting for 70% of the institutions for higher education, enroll more than half of the students that receive higher education and thus a very important element in China's higher education as a whole. Reforming and improving the ideological and political education for vocational students is an important and arduous task. This paper deals with the status quo of and problems in the ideological and political education for vocational students, and analyses the reasons of these problems. It puts forward the following principles that we should be adhered to. equality and democracy, mutual-communication, putting emotion first and combining emotion with reasoning, synthetically pervasion and all-round influencing. Guided by the scientific development view, the ideological and political education of vocational students in question should be strengthened and improved in the following way, setting up the strategy and constructing the complete system of the ideological and political education, bring into play the main function of "Two courses" and that of the Communist Youth League as well as the Communist Party of China, carrying forward the environment of campus, laying stress on the students' psychological fitness, organizing social activities for the students, exploring new channels of ideological and political education, solving the students' practical problems; and strengthening the construction of "three troops".
