Psychology has affirmed that the primary schooling period is the best time when pupils begin to learn English as a second language .They are most likely to make good beginners and best learners due to their curiosity and super capacity of imitating as well as good memory .However, they may have some disadvantages in learning English, for instance ,they are confused with Chinese phonetic symbols and English letters as well as international phonetic symbols in pronunciation; their foreign language learning is only due to their instant interest and enthusiasm; they lack steady intrinsic and extrinsic motivation; they are timid and afraid of making mistakes ;they have no courage or strong will to smooth away difficulties ;they can not control complicated affective factors efficiently and take advantage of their positive effects.The writer learns about pupils'affections in FLL and why they have come into being ,as well as current conditions of English teaching in rural areas by questionnaire ,class observations, interviews of primary school teachers . According to the achievements and related theories made by researchers at home and abroad ,the writer scientifically analyses the impact of all kinds of affections on pupils'FLL .The thesis focuses on ill effect of anxiety on pupils when they are learning English .The writer also puts forward some measures to take in order to lessen pupils'anxiety .As to this ,the thesis lays emphasis upon such teaching methods as follows: strengthening self-confidence ,stimulating motivation ,happy teaching ,encouraging assessment, etc...
