Research On The University Teacher's Job Satisfaction

This research according to the"questionnaire of the job satisfaction of university teachers", which is compiled by myself, is carried on by the survey to the teachers from 8 universities in Harbin. The thesis has used these effective data to analyze the structure of the questionnaire and the job satisfaction of university teachers. Meanwhile I have put forward some corresponding proposal and reference according to the result of the analysis.Findings as follows:(1) There are mainly 6 factors affecting thejob satisfaction: job itself, the management of the leadership, the interpersonal relationship, the welfare incomes, the advanced promotion courses, and the working conditions.(2) Overall, the majority of university teachers are satisfied with their work. Among them, the university teachers score high points in the interpersonal relationship aspect, but receive low points in the welfare incomes, even at the level of low-satisfaction.(3) In the aspect of gender males get slightly more points than females, although the differences are not remarkable; in the aspect of age, the degree of satisfaction goes up along with the age, especially, in the aspect of welfare income; with the elevating of professional titles, the overall points shows the enhancement tendency. And there are also some remarkable differences existing in the item of welfare: teaching assistants get the lowest, but professors take the highest; Between the teachers with different school records, generally the change is clear. The degree of satisfaction is rising along with the different level of school records; in the aspect of working conditions, this kind of difference displays extremely remarkably; the difference is not marked, although the job satisfaction of the married teachers is slightly higher than the unmarried teachers generally; teachers with different duty conditions also have the different satisfaction. The ones who hold kinds of administrative duties in the universities take higher degree of satisfaction than the ones who teach classes only. This kind of difference exists remarkably in the following three aspects: management of leadership, the welfare income and the advanced promotion courses; different school nature is also affecting the degree of satisfaction. The key school teachers must generally get higher points than the ones from ordinary universities. Especially there are some remarkable differences in the aspect of working conditions. Based on the result above, my research suggests, that the universities must establish the fair and rational salary drive system, further strengthen the young teachers troop construction, link up the communication channel, build the democratic management plat form, optimize working conditions, enrich campus cultural construction.
