Through the investigation of employers and job seekers from various trades and occupations, we find that discrimination in labor market is not as serious as some scholars think of generally, and make a deep analysis of age restriction. The innovations of this paper lie in: puts forward new definition about what is discrimination; deepens the connotation of productivity and human capital, points out the imperfection of previous research;analyses in depth the relation-ship between age and productivity, puts forward the concept of"age-price curve"; explores the microcosmic mechanism and rationality of age restriction; analyses the effect of age restriction in general equilibrium framework, we have not found similar research yet.Different characteristics (gender, age, appearance) have different relations to productivity, all recruitment restrictions proposed by employers are realistic need of work posts. Under competition, rational employers will not bring forward any recruitment restriction without relations to work. Other scholars think some restrictions were not necessary, in fact, they fail to explore the real relation between these characteristics and productivity in specific posts. Recruitment restrictions are basically suit for the supply of labor force, most of them are reasonable and can not be removed easily. Therefore these restrictions did not hamper the operation of labor market heavily as most scholars think of generally. Government should provide education and training allowance for the unemployed in order to enhance competence of inferior community, but not monitor recruitment procedure.
