As a means to express scientific thought, the mathematics language is not only an important part of mathematics activities, but also a carrier of mathematics thought, a powerful tool for mathematics activities. The mathematics language ability has much to do with the mathematics quality of a person .Therefore it is a crucial study to teach students using mathematics language and foster their mathematics language ability .This essay focuses on the details as follows:The first chapter presents a comprehensive literature review concerning mathematics language and mathematics language ability .The second chapter explores the concept of the connotation characteristic and functions of mathematics language.The third chapter analyzes the components of mathematics language ability and this ability mainly includes reading ability, memory ability, identification ability, understanding ability, conversion ability, manipulation ability, organization ability, expression ability and etc. And shows two reasons of why the junior high students cannot understand and master the language well just due to the teacher and student problems. Also it identifies the significance of training this ability, which is good for understanding the mathematics concept ,improving students' knowledge structer and memory ,the right moving in study ,and enhancing the confidence of studying math.Based on the theories, the fourth chapter focuses on the analysis of a test paper comprised by the core components of the mathematics language, understanding ability, conversion ability, expression ability, reading ability and so on. The result indicates that the students transformed wrongly, manipulated blindly and expressed with poor mathematics language owing to half-understand some concepts and formulas. The last chapter is the most important. Through the test and survey of students and the experience of teachers, we give some methods and means of how to fester students' reading, understanding, conversion and expression abilities.
