In the recent years, international intercommunion and cooperation are more and more frequent. Accordingly, the status of foreign languages becomes obvious. The successful application of 2008 Olympic Games turns into the strong impetus of"learning foreign languages for all", which the degree that society pays attention to foreign languages reaches culmination in history. Foreign languages show the superiority distinctly in Chinese school education system: low-grade starts foreign languages curriculum in elementary schools; foreign languages curriculum is core curriculum as well as Chinese and math in middle school; college students must pass grading examinations; foreign languages also are important subject that graduate students and doctors'entrance examination.The tide of learning foreign languages is strong, while the oppugning to foreign languages and its status appears constantly, which produces a huge echo in education area. Since that, the related researches about"the status of foreign languages in school education"become more and more."Learning foreign languages for all"is a social phenomenon that appears in recent years, so the researches are few. Moreover, these researches pay attention to discuss and criticize reality, be lack of ample theories, and the suggestions be put forwards are general and difficult to realize.On the basis of study background, picking up the junior middle school as main research stage, with the methods of documents, interviews and analysis, the paper summarizes development situation of foreign languages in schools overseas and looks back development history of foreign languages in junior middle school of China, studies the status of foreign languages core curriculum in junior middle school of China. The conclusion: the foreign languages education exists unfair and the comparative value of foreign languages knowledge is not very high in junior middle school of China, so it is not qualified to become core curriculum. Then the paper offers some suggestions after point the rational orientation, which aims to seek a new breakthrough for foreign languages in junior middle school of our country from the point of theory and offer some references to new foreign curriculum reform.
