The application of Oral Communication is more frequent and important as the time goes forward. Because of the very close relationship among employment, personal develop and oral communication for students from secretary major, enhancing the oral communication teaching in vocational schools is very necessary.The first part of the essay focuses on basic knowledge covering the definition, function and requirements of oral communication, so as to lay a good foundation of knowledge in oral communication teaching.The second part analyzes the necessity and feasibility of oral communication teaching with the base of its function, points out that the present age level is benefit to reach the teaching goals, the knowledge structure; and improves the comprehensive qualities and abilities of the students and brings a bright future for their employment and professional development.The third part analyzes the investigation of present situation of oral communication among students in the Specialty of Secretary and discusses the main 8 problems now exist in oral communication.The forth part discusses the reasons that form the present situation and expresses them in three points: I) students: their knowledge level is lower, and they lack of interest and proper methods while learning; 2) teaching materials: lack of oral teaching materials and basic facilities; 3) teaching approaches: school authorities neglect the importance of oral teaching, the qualities of teachers need to be improved, teaching methods need to updated and the lack of the evaluation system for teachingThe fifth is the most important part of the paper. It discusses the basic ways and measures to enhance teaching. 1) Improve the qualities of teachers 2) form the structure of oral communication teaching 3) Base on Chinese teaching materials, carrying out the oral communication training step by step and gradually. Include normal oral communication training (tongue twisters, reading, chatting, story telling, three-minute presentation before class, body language training etc.); secretary professional training (how to make and answer a phone call, investigation, listening-speaking and note-taking skills etc.) 4) organize social activities, enhance oral communication training (including debating, interview and talk show competitions etc.) 5) Form a high-grade teaching and learning environment and ensure the effect of oral communication teaching.The last part provides the evaluation methods during the oral communication training in major of secretary in vocational schools and assists both teachers and students to improve by themselves.
