The United States is one of the biggest country, which closely contact with its strongest education. Women's higher education is a worldwide problem that all the countries are concerned with. African American women is a special union, they faced not only race discrimination, but also sex oppression. How did they struggle with these problems in this big multinational country, how did they obtain the education right and live with other white people? To review the higher education situation of the African American women is a important aspect of knowing about the whole American education. The thesis mostly review the African American higher education in a special period, from War of Independence to the end of 19th century, deeply discuss the development of black women education in American and the important roles of its affect to the American education, moreover, its powerful social effects.The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one respectively introduces the situation of African American women's education in the colonial period, which are premises that have caused black women's striving for right to higher education. Chapter two introduce the development situation from War of Independence to the end of 19th century, knowing about the complexion of the establishment and development of the black women's higher education. Chapter three analyzes the factors that have promoted the black women's higher education in 19th century, which involve the influence of political factors, the development of social economy, the progress made in social notion and so on. African American women's higher education obtain specific success affected by these factors. The Chapter four explores the profound influences resulted from black women of higher education. It mainly promoted black women's economic status, influence their domestic status, brings the flouring development of black literature and black women's higher education after 19th century. It clearly illustrate that African American women have the right of obtaining higher education in despite of race or the sex, which could lead the society develop harmoniously. Lastly thesis conclude that the important meaning which black women higher education in 19th century brings to our multinational country.It is far-reaching meaningful to analyze and research the establishment and development of the African American women's higher education in this special period, not only to comprehend black women's education and social development, but also for all the world to realize the importance of women's higher education.
