Current paper aims at developing secondary school students'ability of oral communication in English. It tries to improve students'overall competence of using spoken language. This method is known as activity-based group oral English teaching strategy and it attempts to combine modern English teaching concepts with practical English language teaching. During its researching period, the paper attaches great improtance to the development of activity-based team work skills and cultivation of students'cooperative learning competence by giving rational instructions when necessary. When building learning-based team, the author provides individual student with proper environment for oral English learning and helps them conquer different kinds of difficulties. He also helps them obtain good learning habits such as thinking actively, speaking bravely, practising diligently and finally improves their ability to use language as well as enhance their general English quality.The paper here involves five chapters. It starts with two surveys on current oral English teaching and students'learning conditions. It shows the reader many reasons for backward development in oral English ability and problems exsisting in present oral teaching. In the second chapter, it discusses important teaching disciplines and many educaion concepts. They are oral English learning characters, learning psychology for middle school students, group work theory and so on. They all contributes a lot to the paper. In the third chapter, the paper explains the meaning of activity-based group oral English teaching strategy, its actual steps and feedback after teaching as well. In the fourth chapter, the paper introduces the way to compare data from both inside and ouside the school. It will analize the actual effects of bringing the strategy into practice by comparing with those two parts of datum. In the last chapter, the paper works out all the problems listed in the beginning and generalizes the achievement of the strategy as well as specific practical work under the guidance of the concepts mentioned above. Anyway, this paper indicates that activity-based group oral English teaching strategy takes the development of students, learner-centered teaching, habit cultivating and ability enhancing as its main points, which embodies the spirits of the second curriculum renovation. This strategy does provide students with better language learning, communincating atmospere and chances to practise English spoken language. It also helps them accumulate their knowledge, acquire the ability to use language by group work designing and encourage students to talk, think, assist, share with one another in the same group. Therefore current research will surely lead to the improvement of oral language teaching and learning, which may contribute much to the success of enhancing junior middle school students'oral communicative ability.
