With the promotion of quality education and the implementation of the new curriculum, inquiry-based teaching approach is more and more favored by instructors and has been applied to teaching practice in which students are encouraged to take initiative in their study.This thesis presents some problems in carrying out the inquiry-based approach in the teaching practice. Firstly it points out the deficiency in the way instructors carrying out the inquiry-based teaching that too much attention is given to the external form, and then it proposes to set up an effective mode for teaching senior high school ideological and political course, emphasizing both the process and the results. Then it suggests that instructors should improve the teaching evaluation system so as to achieve the effective implementation of the inquiry-based teaching. Instructors should establish mechanisms for evaluating students'performance according to the characteristics of high school ideological and political course. They should not only provide quantitative and qualitative assessments, but also provide various kinds of support materials. Besides, the evaluation system should also consider the diversification of students and be built on the basis of a good social credit. Finally, it proposes to upgrade the quality of the instructors and create a sound environment for basic education, and continuously improve the inquiry teaching.
