As one of the four important skills of language,writing plays a vital role in communicationg,which is being paid more and more attention. In middle school teaching writing,however,we have not known enough about it.In the last two decades,numerous successful researches and practice have gradually enriched writing theories and formed a series of effective approaches to the teaching of writing ,among which the process approach has become prevalent in many foreign countries.The Process Approach of writing considers writing as a process instead of a result ,which pays more attention to developing the students' ability of writing. This way of writing may improve the students' ability of collecting and dealing with information ,analyzing and solving problems,co-operating and thinking.Based on this,the paper attempts to introduce the process approach to English writing teaching into senior high schools .It is intended to make the students aware of the process of their writing,thus improving their writing ability and integrating skills of using English.This thesis has four chapters :Chapter one analyzes the present situation of Enlish writing in senior high schools,investigating the typical errors in the students writing.In chapter two some writing methods are mentioned first and then the auther introduces the background, the characters and the advantages of the process approach as well as the Cognitive Model.In chapter three the auther records the process of her experiment with process approach,analyzing the data at the same time.At last Chaper four sums up that the process approach can really improve the writing ability of senior high school students and points out some problems to be paid attention to in the implement of the process approach.
