The teaching of writing is a difficult part in the teaching of English in senior middle schools of China. There is comparatively not much research done on teachers' written feedback to students' writing. Controversies exist about the necessity of written feedback and the effectiveness of different ways of giving feedback. But in the practice of Chinese senior school English teaching, teachers' written feedback is the most widely applied method of giving feedback. Nevertheless, teachers and students have different attitudes towards it and their practice vary.This research takes the theory of process approach as the theory base. Process approach brought the concept of feedback into the teaching of writing and created the system of feedback and correction, which helps writers efficiently detect and correct the mistakes in their writings. This research conducts a survey on some of the teachers and students in a senior middle school in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province. It partly reveals the present practice of teachers' written feedback on students' writing and the attitudes and puzzles of teachers and students.The research shows that most of the teachers and students are not satisfied with the present ways of feedback as well as their effect. Their urgently hope to have some change which will lead to better interactivities between teachers and students. This article comes to the conclusion that firstly, teachers should adjust their ways of giving feedback according to students' different English level; Secondly, feedbacks on the content should be combined with feedbacks on the forms of language; Thirdly, comments on the writing which include a general evaluation and ways for improvement is especially welcome and can help teachers get their ideas through easily; Meanwhile, classroom comment and appraise should lay emphasis on writing methods and skills. Teachers should be careful when choosing sample writings to display to the students; Lastly, the supervision after feedback must not be neglected by teachers. Rewriting should be included in the requirements for students if necessary.
