The purpose of the study is to investigate the state and trait of career development on vocational college students, explore an effective method for improving career development of vocational college students, and evaluate the effect of experienced career guidance based on cognitive information processing theory on vocational college students of career development.The study contains two parts. In the first part, 643 vocational college students were investigated to detect the state and trait of career development on vocational college students by using"career development scaling". In the second part, The experimental design of fore-and-aft measure was adopted in this research. The experimental group took part in eight sessions accrording to the experienced career guidance based on cognitive information processing theory ,while the controlled group was in natural scene. Students in controlled group were given a talk about career guidance after the experiment. The independent variable is the experienced career guidance based on cognitive information processing theory and the dependent variable is career development. Evaluate the effect of experiment by analysis the data altering in"career development scaling". Follow-up evaluation was given to experimental group after the guidance 5 months later.The following conclusions are drawn from this study:(1)The total level of career development of vocational college students is a little lower, especially in career receptivity. According to the diversity of demography, it can be found:1)There was no difference in the level of career development on vocational college students in sex, area, major. But from dispart, male students had better career receptivity than female students; country students own better career faith than city students, arts students had better career faith than natural students; city students did better career explore than country students. 2)Grade difference was found in the level of career development, the gradation was like freshman,sophomore, junior. 3)It had tremendous difference in the level of career development on part-time job, the score order was frequently, few, none.(2)Experienced career guidance based on cognitive information processing theory is an effective career guidance model. 1)The results showed that experienced career guidance had immediate effect on increasing the level of career development. 2) The result of the 5 months follow-up analysis aslo showed that it had follow-up effect on increasing the level of career development, especially in career planning.
