Professional master degree of education is the professional degree of specific education and career background, mainly for primary and secondary school teachers and administrators, training for the required basic education and management of high-level personnel. Education for professional master degree in China has been offered more than ten years since 1997 and achieved fast developments. The master of education students begun to take shape, but due to its late start, there is still a room for further research and improvements.The study combed the process of the development of professional master degree in our country and Hunan Normal University through the literature method, accessed to the original information process and results of the masters of education degree through the investigation method, and acquainted the cultivation status and effects of the masters of education degree through questionnaires, interviews and surveys.Through accessing to the files and other related materials of 527 students majoring in educational management in Hunan Normal University from grade 1998 to 2009, the study surveyed the gender, age, seniority, professional background, geographical area and job characteristics of the students, and then analysed the characteristic and variation trend of the student origin. The study surveyed 432 students through questionnaires and surveyede 10 students through interviews.The overall investigation acquired the conditions of 8 aspects including study motivation, study stress, evaluation of curriculum, teaching methods, teacher-student relationship, academic research, dissertations and extra-curricular activities related to cultivation process. The results showed that the cultivation effects of the education of professional master degree of education are represented to three aspects: improving the students' development ability, the school's running influence and the social's supporting force.The effects of the cultivation of education masters mainly reflected in the the three aspects that it improved the level of basic education teachers and the running level of schools and enhanced social repercussions. At the same time, however, a lot of questions were showed: the cultivation process and the management still needs to be improved, and the quality of cultivation quality still needs to be enhanced, too. Finally, the study came up with six proposals running through the whole process of the training segment: First, correcting the studying motivation; Second, normaling the cultivation process management; Third, promoting curriculum and teaching reforms; Fourth, improving the quality of teachers; Fifth, exerting scientific advantages of students; Sixth, taking full use of resources of university.
