Entering the 21st century, China is unfolding a new panorama: with the thorough reform of higher education and the policy of expanding recruitment, a large number of local comprehensive universities being built by recombination or reorganization of training schools, have better improved the unreasonable distribution of education in planned economy contributing to this lower-rejustment, local universities with their boundless potentialities have got much attention and become a new point of gowth in the develohment of higher education. Recent years, these universities have made a great achievement in school-running, but there are still some problems, such as, lacking of strength and competence. If they want to distinguish themselves from others, they should establish their own school-running characteristics. So this thesis will discuss the school-running characteristics of comprehensive universities based on theory and practice. It follows the 5 parts:Part I is on introduction, which expatiates the research background, situation and significance of this subject.Part II definites the connotation and characteristics of school-running and then points out the necessity of school-running characteristics.Part III summerizes the advanced experience and effective methods by analyzing the case fo Binzhou University.Part IV gives a comprehensive analysis of contributions on the school-running characteristics in Binzhou University through SWOT analysis.Part V refers to how to improve the school-running characteristics in our country and gives strategies.
