With the deepening degree of internationalization in higher education, the number of students studying in China expands and the concern of issue on the adaptation of studying in Chinese universities also is increasing.This study proposed the Academic Adjustment Model for Korean undergraduate students in China, to find how Korean students of institutes of higher education in China adjust academically and which factors are related to their academic adjustment. The model contains 8 predictors in three levels: (1) facilities (2) teaching (3) orientation in the school level, (4) motive of enrolment in Chinese universities (5) academic Attitude (6) academic ability (7) Chinese proficiency in self level and (8) peer and teacher relationship in interrelation level.The researcher conducted a questionnaire survey model with a population of 218 undergraduate students from South Korea who were enrolled in Fudan University, Jiao Tong University and East China Normal University in Shanghai, China during the spring semester of the academic year 2007-2008. 12 Korean undergraduate students and 4 teachers in these three universities were also interviewed to find out more deeply about the studying situation and the influencing factors of Korean students in China. The Collected questionnaires were analyzed through SPSS 12.0 (ver.), the implementation of statistical analysis was combined with interviewed results.The study found that the factors of facilities, teaching, academic ability, academic attitude, Chinese proficiency and peer and teacher relationship are significantly related to academic adjustment. The factors of motive of enrolment and orientation also affect the academic adjustment.The study found that teaching facilities, classroom instruction of Chinese universities of school factors, studying attitude, learning ability, Chinese language ability of self related factors and communication with teachers and Chinese students of interrelation factors significantly affect the academic adaptation in Chinese universities, as well as the motive of enrolment in Chinese universities and the orientation for international students in Chinese universities are conducive to academic adaptation.In the last part of thesis the study suggested how to help Korean students better adapt to study in China. The management and teaching of Chinese universities should be improved and Korean students also should make a progressive advance of the learning ability and Chinese proficiency.
