The Analysis And Evaluation Of Chengdu Urban Livable City

Urban haitat is the space of human activitiy closely reletive to human survival,and also a multiply-space system including the material foundation,production material and labor object which human rely on for.,all of these factors are influenced by human activities With the rapid urbanization at the global level, urban livability is faced with a tremendous challenge. Urban development is characterized by a series of symptoms, such as rapid expansion of population, traffic congestion, insufficient provision of housing, resource shortage, deterioration in the quality of the environment, underdevelopment of infrastructurial facilities and public services and rising crime and so on. Faced with this grim situation, urban livability is one of the hottest topics within the realm of international research in urban science, and it recently becomes the focus of city governments and urban residents.Based on the pertinent researches, this paper reviews the domestic and foreign research progress and the theoretical ideas of urban livability. By summarizing lessons and experiences learned from the theoretical investigation and practical implementation of urban livability, the author attempts to set up a comprehensive system of the theory which consists of four major parts: the content, characteristics, the concept of development and the evaluation system of the livable cities. The livable cities should be wholly habitable, economically efficient, culturally diversified, socially harmonious and environmentally feasible and sustainable. The evaluation system of urban livability should include: the evaluation of the urban zoolopy and the level of livability,the evaluation of the urban economic development and the level of consuption,the evaluation of government pubic service and the ability and the level of the supply of social work,the evaluation of the stability of the the social and politics After the pectination and analysis of these concept and theory,field investigation and file invetigation are carried out to know the condition of livability in chengdou.the result with the objective comment is used to give Chengdu metropolitan area urban livability a evaluation, and provide improvement measures.
