[Objective]To investigate the nutrition knowledge,attitude and practice among elementary teachers in Yuelu district of Changsha,as well as analyze the influence factors to find methods to improve.To improve students' nutrition knowledge,attitude and practice through nutrition education in some elementary schools.To evaluate the effect of nutriton education,as well as provide foundation to education government to make related policies.[Method]Cluster sampling was carried out in 29 elementary schools in Yuelu District of Changsha.All of the students and parents in grade four were involved in questionaires on general economic situation and nutrition knowledge,attitude,practice.Put baseline nutrition knowledge score of all the students from low to high in order.Stratified sampling was used to choose intervention schools and control schools.Nutrition education was carried out in intervention schools.Comparing students' nutrition knowledge-attitude-practice after intervention with the level before intervention.To evaluate the effect of nutrition education scientifically.[Results]Students and parents are lacking of nutrition knowledge. Average scores of students and parents are 14.90±5.37 and 14.91±6.47. The part "influence of bad dietary behavior" is the highest knowledge which rate is over 65%.The part "nutrients function and food resource" is the lowest knowledge of students,which rate is 42.95%.The part "food classification and reasonale diet" is the lowest knowledge of parents, which rate is 43.73%.Multiple linear stepwise regression showed that parents' nutrition score,mother's income,people whose income are stable,whether keep healthy,whether full-term born are the major factors influencing students' scores of nutrition knowledge(P<0.05). Students and parents' attitude are great to accept nutrition education. Nutrition knowledge could affect attitude,so that the highest score students and parents are gained,the attitude are better.In nutrtion practice, students and parents whose knowledge are higher consume more dairy products.But the frequency of communicating nutrition knowledge is small.Average score of intervention students is 21.93±3.70 after nutrition education.The difference which compares with before intervention is meaningful in statistics.No difference exists in control students. Intervention students' attitude is more positive to accept nutrition education. The frequency of consuming dairy products,having breakfast,communicating nutrition knowledge with others,reading food label are increasing of intervention students.Control students' frequency of consuming dairy products and reading food label are increasing.Students' participation and satisfaction rate of involving in nutrition education are high.[Conclusion]1.Students and parents in grade four are lacking of nutrition knowledge.Nutrition attitude is positive,but nutrition practice needs to be improved.2.Major factors which could affet students' knowledge are parents' knowledge level,mother's education and family's economic situation.3.Nutrition education is helpful to improve students' nutrition knowledge,attitude and practice.4.We should adopt different kinds of teaching method to build a nutrition education model to elementary students.
