With the information revolution and economic globalization, the humanity has entered a new era of knowledge-based economy and scientific and technological innovation, in which the international competition mainly depends on technology and talents. The cultivation of innovative talents puts a new challenge for undergraduate education in the research universities, with higher requirements for students' research capability.The Chinese research universities have advantaged predominance on training their students' research capability, such as ideals of talents cultivation in advanced; teaching staffs with high-standard; abundant teaching resources and students with fine quality. The author selected six Chinese research universities including Zhejiang University as samples. With the undergraduate education plan as the point cut, the paper gave an empirical research on cultivation measures of undergraduate scientific research capacity in these universities. They took some effective measures to improve the undergraduate's research capability, such as forwarding the interdisciplinary education, conducting general education, giving some credits on scientific research, strengthening practical steps, opening the freshman-seminar and so on. Due to absence of some safeguard mechanism, they didn't get their desired results in practice.
