[Background]AIDS threaten global hygiene and social economic development and health education was regared as the most effective means to prevent AIDS.University students were apt to be infected with AIDS and were obliged to master related knowledge.Furthermore,University students who possessed higher quality and socia obligation could motivate the people' duty to prevent AIDS.AIDS health education in university possessed a strategic sense for AIDS prevention in our country.Moreover,studies that compared the effects of different education models were deficient.A large number of studies indicated that university students had obtained the basic knowledge of AIDS to a certain degree,but many students were still very fuzzy about the professional knowledge of AIDS.Different AIDS health education models had significant educational effects.But some education models were not easy to be carried out and education effects had not been ascertained.[Objective]To investigate the AIDS related knowledge toward AIDS among freshmen and compare the effects of different AIDS health education models among freshmen,which provide theoretical basis for health education on AIDS in colleges.[Methods]1.Questionnaire regarding knowledge,attitude and practice toward AIDS was conducted among 1324 freshmen anonymously.2.600 freshmen were randomly divided into three groups:self-education group(group A),expert lecture group(group B) and peer education group(group C).The education last for one month in all three groups.Questionnaire was conducted before education and 2 months after education,recpectively.Data bank was set up with Epidata 3.1 software and statistical analysis was carried out with SPSS 10.0 statistical software.[Results]1.Freshmen had understood the basic knowledge of AIDS to a certain degree.However,many freshmen were still very fuzzy about the professional konwledge of AIDS.Girls had more knowledge about AIDS than boys,while students from countryside knew less than those from city.The fremen obtained information of AIDS mainly from television programs, broadcast,newspapers,books,internet and so on.81.5%freshmen were ready to help AIDS patients and infectors,while 18.5%freshmen had an attitude of discrimination.As for attitude towards AIDS patients,there is no significant difference between boys and girls,between students from city and from country.Less than 60%fremen had safe- sex intention.Girls had higher safe- sex intention than boys,while students from countryside had lower safe- sex intention rate than those from city.93.4%of freshmen thought it was necessary to carry out health education on AIDS.TV and broadcast,internet,newspaper and books The first three means of health education that freshmen liked were TV and broadcast,internet, newspaper and books.2.AIDS knowledge master rate after different education in three groups was significant increased,while the effect in group B and C was better than that in group A.After education,freshmen had more safe-sex intention.The safe- sex intention rate in group B and C was higher than that in group,while two items of safe- sex intention rate in group C was higher than that in group B.After education,freshmen's attitude towards AIDS patients was not improved significantly in group A,while freshmen who were ready to help AIDS patients in group B and C increased significantly.[Conclusion]1.Freshmen have some cognitions on AIDS,but still need to improve the knowledge of AIDS.It necessary to enhance health education on AIDS among freshmen.2.All the three education models have significant educational effects. Generally,the effects of peer education was the best,the second was expert lecture and the last one was self-education.The ideal education model among freshmen should rely mainly on peer education while making expert lecture and self-education subsidiary to achieve better effects.
