China that has a vast territory, many nationality ,and a long history has a great wealth of folk culture, in which the culture of the folk sports is one of a shining pearl. As an important part of the fine traditional culture of china,folk sports has been living as a paradigm, which connect the nation's emotions, appreciate the nation's customs, ethics, and build the colorful life of society of an agricultural civilization. This article concretely and comprehensively inspect the developmental history of the folk sports since the founding of China from the perspective of sports history, the point of view of contact, the point of view of development and the point of view of the differentiation, from which I summmarize the basic characteristics, lessons learned, and the law of development of folk sports since the founding of China.The folk sports has a long history in our country but its real diversification is after the reforming and opening up. The paper revealed the developmental law of folk sports and sumed up the experiences and lessons of folk sports to provide basis for the future sustainability of the development of folk sports in the order of time through different historical periods of the development of folk sports.First of all, we must know the characteristics of folk sports and classified it in order to study the evolution of folk sports. Folk sports has not declined but more diversified development trend after a thousand years which is due to its characteristic. Secondly, this paper divided folk sports into different historical periods in chronological order, and based on the sports activities form of different historic stages. since the founding of Sports put into several different stages of development. The founding of the early to mid-fifties, folk sports of our country mining, collation is in a gradual recovery period. The late 1950s to early 1980s is the stage of the development and recovery of folk sports. Since the 1980s,it is the stage of the diversification of development of the folk sports. Based on the above, this article can be divided into five parts:1. The introduction including the analysis of the concept of folk sports,the evolution of folk sports,and the major viewpoints of the reaserch of folk sports. The theory value and practical significance is emphasized base on the analysis of the content, outreach, role, the evolution of folk sports,and the current fragmental research. 2. The classification and characteristics of folk sports. This article divided it into two main categories: entertainment and sports in accordance with its nature for its wide range. It has the internal and external features. Its internal characteristics include sports and entertainment, and dependent; its external features include the national character, regional, heritage, and practical. We can reveal the developmental law by the research on the classification and characteristics of folk sports.3. The paper divided the folk sports since the founding of China into three stages in the order of time. The first stage, the founding of the early to mid-fifties is mining, collation stage of the folk sports. By researching the developmental conditions of this stage,I summed up the characteristics of the development of the folk sports of this stage. The second phase, the late fifties to the early eighties is the stage of stagnation and recovery. From the late 1950s to the late 1970s, it was inevitably given the interference of the thought of the extreme-leftist. The development of the folk sports is at a standstill period. At the beginning of the reforming and opening up, the relevant ministries country held a national forum on the work of minority ,in which national sports job is listed again. The relevant departments at all levels drastically removed the interference of the extreme-leftist thinking and actively promoted mining, organizing the national sports, but the national tradition sports was not still showing a positive status. The third stage, since the late eighties, it was the stage of diversification of the development of the folk sports. I summed up the experence and lessons of influencing the development of the folk sports nowadays by researching the diversified folk sports in the field of sports.4. The strategy of the development of the folk sports. It put forward the strategy of the development of the folk sports connecting the current state of the folk sports. It provided the basis for the future sustainability of the development of folk sports by analyzing the international festival of climing the Mount Tai and the International Kite Festival in Weifang.5.
