Chemical equilibrium is an important part in chemistry of high school. There existed difficulties both in the process of instructing and studying. By means of investigating the application of cognition psychology in the field of chemistry, the aim of this article is to reveal the cognitive problems of high school students occurring in studying chemical equilibrium.Using methodology of document review, questionnaire survey, and case analysis, this paper confirmed a serious of distinct difficulties in existence of studying chemical equilibrium, especially in the field of judging the shift direction of the balanced state. Further interview and discuss explored the reason. Those the lack of effective connection between the macroscopic and microscopic conception in chemistry is the substantial factor resulting the difficulties.A number of recommendations and advice have been supplied for the improvement of chemical equilibrium instruction process, including the construction of a visual map or model of micro-particles, the characterization of the relation between the macroscopic and microscopic world, and the proper application of the molar conception, etc.
