A Study On Present Professional Quality Of Kindergarten Teachers In Chongqing Rural Areas

Teacher's professional development is one of focuses in teacher education at present, and its essence and core is the exaltation of teacher's professional quality. Consulted researches that have been done, we can find that researches about kindergarten teacher's professional quality is not enough in depth and systematization. After consulting a great deal of collection, the researcher surveyed kindergarten teachers in Ba'nan District, Jiangjin District and Pengshui Country of Chongqing by means of questionnaire and interviews. Main items of the survey are:basic situation of teachers, teachers'attitude to the profession, teachers'professional knowledge, teachers' professional ability and factors that influence kindergarten teachers'professional quality, etc.Result of the survey shows:teachers'attitude to the profession is good in general, but their professional emotion is low; most of teachers'consciousness and belief to the profession are good; they love children; they have a strong sense of responsibility; their expertise about early childhood education is lack; their teaching ability is good; items of education monitor ability are not balanced; they have strong consciousness to do research, but their ability to do research is too low. The main factors that lead to these problems are as follows:people don't take kindergarten teachers' occupation as a professional occupation; opportunity of teacher-training is few and also lack of pertinence; teacher's culture is not positive; the management needs to be improved; teachers feel professional burnout; teachers are not confident to professional study; support from family is inadequate if they want to learn more. To solve these problems, this thesis suggests that we should establish and improve the system for teachers professional development, enhance in-service teacher training, promote teachers culture though educational research and finally develop a Teacher Learning Community.
