Independent college is a new mode of college, established in the expansion movement of tertiary education. Funded by private investment, it is a subordinate college attached to the public universities. With the support of the government, the development of independent colleges is extremely rapid. Founded at the end of last century, there are seven independent colleges in Chongqing, with students amounting 54,300. They are an indispensible part of Chongqing's tertiary education system.However, there are various problems confronting them, such as the inconsistency of the school modes and the cultivation goals, the imbalance of the expansion rate and the teaching resources, the irrationality of staff constitution, etc. When the independent colleges begin to issue their own diploma, they will encounter more challenges, since they will not be able to rely on the maternal vantage.To deal with those challenges, it is necessary to enhance the quality of teaching, cultivate the talents with theoretic as well as practical knowledge so as to raise the students'employment. Only in this way can the independent schools survive the fierce competition. The teachers'development is the prerequisite, but it fell in a dilemma.This thesis aims at the difficulties and dilemmas facing the teachers in the independent colleges, analyzes the causes and search for the solutions and countermeasures, so as to stimulate the development of the teachers in Chongqing's independent colleges.The thesis is divided into five parts:Introduction. In this part, the causes of the study are given, the literature clarified, and the thoughts and approaches of the study presented.Part I includes a discussion on the theoretical basis of teachers'development, analysis on the development of teachers from the independent colleges, referred to the characteristics of the independent colleges.Part II is the analysis on the difficulties and obstacles facing the teachers in the independent school, based on the survey of current situations, which is followed by the exploration of its reasons from three perspectives.Part III is a study on the countermeasures to cope with the obstacles and steer the development of independent college teachers.Conclusion. It retrieves to the whole research process, and points out the direction of further study.
