| Questioning plays an important role in classroom teaching .It's an approach for teachers to input, to deliver and to share information with the students for the purpose of communication.This paper focuses on the English teachers'questioning activity in senior high schools'classroom teaching and takes scores of English classes in the Wenzhou area as the samples . Through the classroom observation ,survey and interview , It furthers the study on five models of English classroom teaching, analyzes the problems arising from teachers'questioning activities in classrooms of senior high schools and probes into students'opinion of the teachers'questioning as well as their feedback about it. In this way , It further explores the strategies and skills teachers should adopt to ensure the students'principal part in English learning and improve their questioning skills in classroom teaching. All of these are supposed to contribute to the effective teaching in the English curriculum reform.This research is based on the classroom observation of scores of English teachers in some senior high school in Wenzhou and on the survey of 400 students from four senior middle schools .After the survey , an interview was held among 20 students from the author's own school as well as another interview among English teachers in the author's school.
