| With the development of our country, the communication between our Chinese and the people of all other countries in the fields of politics, economy and culture, etc is becoming more and more frequent. So it is a necessity to cultivate persons with some basic English knowledge and the abilities of speaking and listening, especially their strong communication ability. The stage of senior high school is a very important stage in students'English learning. Students can learn and improve their communication ability during their senior high schools. But the aural-oral lesson of senior high school is rooted in the traditional education ideas. It pays more attention to the learning of English knowledge than the students'communication ability. It couldn't keep the pace with the modern society. How to improve the students'communication ability is a problem which we should pay much attention to in our English teaching.Taking the theory of constructivism and emotional psychological theory of high school students as the theory's basis, this thesis puts forward the idea of the situational teaching method and begins the research of the situational teaching method in English classes of senior high schools. The situational teaching method is to create some active and emotional sceneries in English classes through the method of arousing the students'learning desire in some active and lively situations. During these lively situations, the function of the teacher is to lead the students into a certain emotional and particular situation. These creative situations can give the students some attitude experience and help the students understand their textbooks.This thesis is divided into 6 chapters. The first chapter states the background and aims of this action research and discusses the necessity of using the situational teaching method in the speaking and listening class. The second chapter gives the theory basis of the situational teaching method from the points of situation and situational teaching and introduces the research of situational teaching method home and abroad. The third chapter discusses the application of the situational teaching method with teaching practices in aural- oral lessons and proves that the using of the situational teaching method can improve the teaching quality of aural-oral class through questionaire and teaching practices. |
