Teacher is the person who passes the knowledge down and also an important key to impact the quality of education. More teachers can be facilitated for their professional development by analyzing and studying the professional development of individual teachers. This study focuses on the professional development of individual middle school teachers, seek the key incidences in the course of their professional development, and analyze factors influencing their professional development, and summarize the approaches that can improve their profession development so as to provide reference and guidance more middle school teachers. Narrative research is used and an excellent Chinese teacher who works in a middle school of Yuncheng city in Shanxi Province is recruited in this study. The researcher visited the school, and collected dates by observation, deep interview and production analysis. Details and facts are described and sections are reorganized into stories. The essence is revealed gradually by the empathic explanation of the researcher.This dissertation is composed of three sections. In the first section, briefly expatiates the background of the problem and propose the purpose and the meaning of the research. Then discourse upon the methods of the research, expatiate the implementing process and considering the ethic of the research, and refreshes the old research on teacher professional growth and find the fundamental point of the research. Then preliminarily propose the connotation of teacher professional growth and teacher professional development on the base of analysis on practice, knowledge and the related concepts. The second section explains the subjects'professional development and educational characteristics from the perspective of the subjects'teaching experiences, the stories of the subjects and the students, and the subjects'classrooms, according to the data collected by the researcher. The third part analyzes the subjects'professional development, including the analysis of the subjects'education theories in the aspects of the subjects'student outlook, teacher outlook and teaching outlook; the analysis of the stages of the subjects'professional development, such as the pre-post accommodating stage, the maturely-competent stage, the plateau-terrace stage, success-created stage and the resignation regression stage; the analysis of the factors influencing the subjects'professional development from the perspective of the internal and external causes; and the enlightenment of the teachers'professional development promoted by the subjects'stories.
