As we all know, English writing reflects comprehensive abilities of thinking, understanding and linguistic applying. In the process of learning a foreign language, learners have committed different errors inevitably, and English writing situation can not be optimistic in the college entrance examination over these years. English teachers are also confronted with various errors made by students in the course of teaching. English writing skill is a very important skill of five skills"listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating". Making errors in English writing is not only the process of expressing students'ideas, but also the process of students'making logic errors and correcting the errors. Although the errors are repeated, the error performance is the judgments and basis to Senior High School teachers. So, the error analysis is a catalyst. Through the analysis on students'errors, the teachers can know what stage the students get to, what teaching purpose the teachers should attain, they can make the necessary improvements on the writing teaching.At first, this thesis describes the purpose and significance of the study, and, the thesis analyzes the writing of the situations in our country and error types the students made with the guidance of Error Analysis(EA),Contrastive Analysis(CA),and Interlanguage(IL) theory, errors, writing errors, adverbial clause, and cultural transfer and other related concepts, In the empirical part , the thesis analyzes 120 compositions written in the same period of time with the same topic by the students in Senior Two , altoghter 752 errors are identified, then, a classification of the errors is made first, followed by a discussion of the factors leading to the errors of adverbial clause in the composition .The analysis shows that interlingual and intralingual errors are two major types, mother language negative transfer and interlanguage fossilization have a great effect on the language learnersAt last , some relevant error correction methods and pedagogical suggestions on the possible way of helping English writing are put forward according to the analysis and discussion, Hopefully, the thesis will be of help to both language teachers and language learners in senior high schools.
