The higher vocational education in our country is undergoing a great development; in the meanwhile, it is also facing serious challenges. Due to the special characteristics of the higher vocational education's development, the qualities and capabilities of the whole faculty body should be improved in several different aspects, which include:the first:generally speaking, the teacher should hold higher degrees in their respective majors. The second:the new teachers lack of basic capabilities for conducting the teaching methodology, as well as the practical experiences. Continuation education is the most efficient way to enhance the comprehensive qualities of the teachers in the vocational technical college, as well as inspire the professional achievements in their major fields. But actually, Continuation education among the faculty members in the majority of the higher vocational college is not really doing well. Shaanxi, as an important province for the higher vocational education, also confronts the same situation.Therefore, the field research that focus on the continuation education for the faculty members of the Vocational Colleges in our province, the analysis of the factors that might influence effect of the continuation education for the faculty members of the Vocational Colleges, and the feasibility suggestion based on such kind of research, will have an significant meaning for the improvement of the qualities of the faculty body for Shaanxi province and even the whole nation.This research uses several methods which include document analysis, questionnaire survey, interview, date collection, and case analysis. The thesis mainly is divided into three parts:first of all it gives the definition about the relevant concepts about the continuation education. And then it points out the indispensable role of the continuation education for the faculty members in the higher vocational college based on the lifelong education, Teacher Professionalization, study oriented theory. The second part is classification and analysis of results acquired by sampling questionnaires and on-site investigations to 6 different types of vocational training colleges in Shaanxi province which are carrying on teachers continued education. The third part is the core of this thesis, which puts forward a serial of constructive and executable suggestions based on the actual situation of Shaanxi vocational colleges by analyzing the major problems and their origins of continued education on vocational teachers and combining with the previous results analysis and by taking reference to related studies in foreign countries on this issue.
