Physical Fitness is a new concept introducing into China in recent years. It is an extension of health concept, and can assess man physical health and functional levels more comprehensive and accurate. College stage is important to body development and function perfecting. The healthy development of body figure and physiological function of college students, is not only a significant effect on their physical condition, but also a priority concern of the current research in the field of Mass Sports. With the continuous deepening of Physical Education reformation, badminton has become popular in Physical Education Curriculum Elective because of its own advantage, and has become a indispensable sport to students after school. At present, the research about effects of badminton on physical health is relatively small. This article discusses the effects of badminton on body figure and health related physical fitness, in order to giving a scientific guidance to students participate in badminton exercises.Experimental measurement is the main research method. The main research object is Jilin University undergraduates participating in badminton. The measurement tests the index of body figure, body composition, heart rate, grip strength, back strength, vertical jump, 1 min push-up / sit-ups, flexility, maximum pulmonary ventilation (MVV),FVC,1second rate,maximal oxygen uptake relative value (VO2max),and the test results were compared.Test results showed that examinee's body had no significant changed in shape; MVV,FVC,1second rate,VO2max increased significantly; resting heart rate significantly decreased; right hand grip strength, back strength and endurance significantly increased; flexility has improved to some improvement; significant difference between left and right hand increased.Test results showed because of the Badminton Exercising in 12 months, the indexes of the effects on body figure had no significant been changed, but body composition, muscular fitness, and cardiopulmonary function, and so on had been improved and promoted significantly. The significant difference between left and right hand increased, is not an advantage to the balanced development of upper limb muscle strength.
