As a significant part of linguistic knowledge, grammar plays a vital part in developing learners'language skills. As a result, students need not only to master certain grammar knowledge but also to gain abilities to deal with pragmatic language problems with learned grammar knowledge, which is also shown in the recent test-papers of NCEE (the New College Entrance Examination) of Guangdong Province. Therefore, in order to improve students'pragmatic competence, English grammar teaching in senior high schools should be enhanced. Thus the author analyzes the current problems of grammar teaching, brings in and tests out a new way of language teaching-TTT (Test-Teach-Test) grammar teaching approach, which is essential for research and must have practical significance.There are three parts in this thesis. In the introduction, the author discusses the need, purpose and significance for researching, and then puts forward the idea methods of this study on the basis of analyzing the existing study. In the second part, the author analyzes the result of a survey made on current grammar teaching problems and puts forward the TTT approach to deal with the problems. In the third part, the author makes out the principles of performing the TTT approach based on classroom teaching.The author discovers, according to investigation, that both teachers and students are not satisfied with the efficiency and effect of current grammar teaching and learning. For one thing, students'pragmatic competence is relatively low, since in the teaching process most teachers and students ignore the pragmatic competence but pay more attention to the examination itself. For another, teachers seldom live up to students'individualized differences, as a result of lacking effective evaluation on students'pragmatic competence. This paper, therefore, argues and puts forward a new grammar teaching approach to solve these problems. The approach consists of three stages of teaching a new target language structure. The first test aims to help teachers to find students'factual degrees and existence problems and to adjust the strategies of their teaching. The procedure of teaching integrates form, meaning and context of language structures. The second test combines task-based language teaching, making consolidation more effective.TTT (Test Teach Test) is a new grammar teaching approach advantageous for teachers to rethink their way of teaching and beneficial for students to self-evaluate, inspiring students'enthusiasm for study and increasing teaching and studying efficiency.
