Quality of education is the core of educational development, and is also a lifeline of mass higher education. Therefore, the quality of higher education has become the focus of widespread concern around the world. Countries in the world pay more and more attention to quality assurance system of higher education. With the popularization of higher education in China, there is growing concern on the quality of higher education. In recent years, the aspiration of establishing good quality assurance system of higher education is becoming increasingly stronger. How to learn successful experience in this area from the developed countries is an important issue that is worthy of deep consideration. Higher education of America is the most development in the world, and its quality assurance system is the best. Our quality assurance system of higher education is established later than America. This study tries to compare quality assurance system of higher education between China and USA. Through the comparison we can learn from the experience of the United States, which has positive practical significance.This paper is divided into four parts:The opening is an introduction. It introduces the selection of the topics, intention and significance of this research, current situation of the research as well as research methods, thinking and innovation and defines key concepts.The first chapter expounds quality assurance system of higher education between China and USA by the longitudinal comparison. Quality assurance system of higher education in this part is divided into internal and external assurance systems. Through longitudinal comparison it analyzes features and weakness of Chinese quality assurance system of higher education, and the characteristics of American quality assurance system of higher education.The second chapter expounds quality assurance system of higher education between China and USA by the horizontal comparison. At first, it compares with internal quality assurance system of higher education between China and USA from education ideology, student source, major and curriculum arrangement, teaching method, curriculum management and system of evaluation, management systems in the college, then compares with external quality assurance system of higher education between China and USA from education management system, assessment system, assessment forms and institutions, operating mechanism and main contents, index and norms of assessment. Finally, the similarity in quality assurance system of higher education between China and USA is identified through the comparison and analysis.The third chapter discusses quality assurance system of higher education in USA to bring enlightenment to China. For the problems that quality assurance system of higher education in China exists, it firstly discusses the enlightenment which internal quality assurance system of higher education in USA brings to build internal quality assurance system of higher education in China, then discusses the enlightenment that external quality assurance system of higher education in USA brings to establish external quality assurance system of higher education in China.
