With the quickening pace of education reform in recent years, basic education has proposed and implemented the "Sports and Health Curriculum Standard" which considers "Health first" as the guiding ideology. At the same time, higher education has brought forward"3-autoinstructions"according to"Teaching Guidelines of sports for national universities". As playing a vital role in 3-autoinstructions, Volleyball has been attached the importance by the state and school. However, the situation of volleyball classes development in college and university is not optimistic. The reasons are that volleyball has a high degree of skill, complex tactical coordination and precise collective nature, as well as the lacking interest and quality of students. In addition, there exists a large difference of basic skills among students. All of the above reasons in large part have influenced the widespread and development of volleyball in college and university.Based on the theory of modern education and the "master learning strategies" theory founded by American psychologist, Bloom, stratification of teaching, with the premise of new ideas, the core of meeting the standard of teaching, the drive of teaching evaluation , the mean of feedback and correcting, the bridge linking a variety of teaching methods and learning methods, is a teaching System that assumes teaching activities is under the control of the specific objectives, makes most students can master the course content and achieve teaching objectives and intensely improves teaching quality.This paper adopted many methods such as searching literature materials, conducting comparative experiments, carrying on expert interviews, analyzing statistics and doing surveys to study the theory basis, operation process, teaching principles and teaching evaluation of stratification of teaching. We proved theoretically the feasibility and advantage of stratification of teaching in selective course of volleyball in college. We confirmed stratification of teaching can better enhance the students'level of theoretical knowledge, technical skill and ability of observing and solving problems than the traditional teaching. In addition, stratification of teaching was also favorable in training creative thinking of students. Therefore, stratification of teaching is applicable not only in volleyball course but also in providing a reference value in reforming of other ball games teaching courses.
