For speed skating events, the start of the race is the very important technology link, especially in the short-distance events. In the paper, the objects of my study are the men's 500 meters athletes who participated in the 2008-2009 National Speed Skating Championships. With the methods of researching documents and materials, analyzing the images in the video, mathematical statistics, I study the techniques of the start: preparatory posture, start (the first step), the relevant parameters of the first two steps in the sprint.My purpose is:(1) to find out the traits of the parameters of the various stages in the men's 500m speed skating. (2) to provide scientific technical indicators for coaches' scientific training. (3) to use techniques of start speed skating legitimately and provide reference for improving athletic performances.In this study find that:the preparation of our athletes knee-ankle angle of the average position of the hip are as follows:left hip angle of 49.27°; left knee angle average of 100.8°;left ankle angle average of 76.30°;right hip angle average of 69.02°;right knee angle 100.20°;right ankle average of 72.89°. The distance range of feet is 0.338-0.579m. There is a larger gap between individuals. Differences of the after the elbow angle are even greater, the smallest elbow angle is 58.52°, a maximum is 194.14°. In the start-up phase, the time is 0.40-0.58s. The center of gravity changes greatly. In the first two steps of sprint, the athletes'center of gravity acceleration emerges like waves-----first enlarged then reduced. The overall has been becoming larger, Zhang Yaolin,in the end of the second step in the sprint, his center of gravity acceleration has decreased, and his stride frequency is also reduced. In the first three steps,athletes spend about 0.92-1.16s,vary greatly. The 1st,2nd and 3rd step time have significant relationship. And it also has positive relationship among 1st,2nd,3rd step time and 500-meters running result. The objects in my study have reasonable rhythm of stroke which is from hip to ankle.
