In the market economy, the key to the present practice of business news is to provide the enterprises with the information concerning the marketing and distribution of their products, their competitors, clients and partners, and to amplify information flow by stories on the overall economy, as well as analysis and prediction stimulated by the stories. Therefore, the information flow has been a major criterion to assess the value of the business story, and a host of media scholars have done significant study on this issue, for example Studies on the News Information Flow by Li Yuanshou, on Economic Information Flow by Qiu Jiawu, Economic Information Flow Study by Ren Quanfu and on the Business Information by Guo Duozuo while there is only Journalistic Approach to Business Information by Dong Jianmin that accommodates the specific topic of information flow of the business report. The thesis starts with defining three challenges confronting the business reporting, i.e. the information flow, its value, speed and added value, and follows up by the examination of the mentioned challenges and the carrier and coverage of the information flow with the observation of information flow as the priority of the paper. The author takes an in-depth look into two major carriers of business report, i.e. newspaper and television when comparing the information flow of the business report run by the domestic and foreign press in hope to come up with the means to amplify and add value to various business stories, and consequently upgrade the quality of the business report to meet the requirement of China抯 socialist market economy.
