The splendid scenery and the inspiring environment in Guangxi have bred numerous literary talents. uangxi the Fourteen?just refers to the fourteen poets who built up their reputations in the late Qing Dynasty. SuShixue, a poet in Tengxian County, is one of the fourteen poets, and his poetry anthology, ao-mo-lou?Poetry Anthology, is filled with all his ambition and feelings of life. It was highly esteemed by his contemporary poets and the posterity. 1,238 poems in 810 topics are collected in the anthology, which completely reveal the poet persistent pursuit for poetry. With wide subjects, profound contents, and varied styles, his poems have both ideological content and artistic characteristics. Between the lines, he denounced the invaders into the country and embodied as a patrot intellectual the national integrity, the patriotism, and the sense of responsibility to save all the people depressed and invaded. Besides writing poems, he devoted himself into national education and invested to establish some schools, leaving a reputation for eaching Everywhere and Educating All the Time?and the investment made a great contribution to the posterior poets. 揟an-jing-san-su? a family writing group, in which he was the head, greatly improved the local poetic atmosphere. He strictly concentrated on scholarly studies and corrected the mistakes in The Annals of Tengxian County, and thus paved a broader road for the posterior textual research. He enthusiastically made many explorations and creations in literary art and left us a lot of precious experiences and beneficial inspiration. His 1,238 poems are part of the cultural heritage not only for Guangxi but also for the nation. His personal character and poetic style have largely influenced the contemporary poets and the posterity.
