| In recent years many requirements in application based on the INTERNET have been brought forward because of its popularity and increasing extension in the application field. Electronic stamp, an unique digital identifier, is used in the electronic stamp system, a new on-line postage payment system, as user's postage payment warrant and to sort letters automatically. The traditional stamp will be replaced by it in the future. This paper begins with a simple discussion of the necessity of designing and developing the electronic stamp system, followed by the concept, design, identification and forgery-proof performance of the electronic stamp. At the same time, a design scheme completely based on software for such a system is also presented. In addition, it discusses the public-key cryptosystem, the private-key cryptosystem and the digital signature technology, which are often used in communication secrecy. Their applications in the electronic stamp system are then proposed. Moreover the designs of server software and client software are given at the end of this paper. Finally, the application of the SET(Secure Electronic Transaction) protocol in the electronic stamp system is indicated. The electronic stamp system completely based on software is proved to be feasible by an experiment. |
