As a part of modern testing method, computer vision holds a great application potential in the field of diagnosis of the mechanical wear. It is very important for real-time numerical video monitor of the wear surface to find the best parameters for depicting the image of the wear surface and numeralize the relationships among them. A real-time, dynamic and on-line method of monitoring the wear condition of the sample based on wear surface delicately is presented in this paper. The following aspects were studied to realize it: I. Abstracted the deepness value from the destructive wear surface; 2. Abstracted the hue value of the image from the wear surface; 3. Obtained the relationship between the deepness of the actual surface and the hue value of the image; [3 7152.6077&1 ,Xrange E (0,0.3838] 1 Y = 21.83801nx,Xrange (3.3838,8.9575] ~103.5948,Xrange ~ (8.957~,+az) J 4. Processed the finial result using statistic method and passed the hypothesis proof. The expectations of the hue value for minor, modest and severe wear images are 107, 120 and 125 respectively. By hypothesis testing the three above samples, it was found that there was difference between minor and modest wear althougli there was no difference between modest and severe wear. Minor, modest and severe wear can be distinguished in the actual monitor process; 5. Obtained the circumscriptions of the hue value depicting the minor and severe wear, which are (79,135) and (147,156) respectively; 6. Tested the above circumscriptions using examples, and the result was satisfied. Through discussing the relationship between the deepness value of the actual wear surface and the hue value of the wear image, made it was available to use the hue value of the wear image to depict the wear condition of the actual wear surface, and laid a solid foundation for further study of the computer dynamic video monitor.
