The accuracy of the strip gauge is one of quality targets of strip production, which with the development of social economy is more higher, so it is important to research deeply automation gauge control system (AGC) of rolling mill and to apply modem control theory to AGC of rolling mill. The paper researches the principles and process principle of rolling mill, analyses and synthesize dynamic mathematical model of AGC. However, because of effect of machinery system, control system of roll and change of strip gauge and differences of two sides pressing down systems of rolling mill, the system has a lot of uncertainty, which made it not easy to attain control effect by means of general control method.In view of these problems, the paper presents that robust control, which is used in system with uncertainty and distribution of outer world, is applied to AGC of rolling mill. The // method which does not demand high precision of the structure, parameters, hysteresis, stability and so on is applied to AGC based on Ha control in this paper, so it has good control effect for inner loop of system and overall system, especially hysteresis.Simulations of experiment indicate that in some bounds of uncertainty the AGC can reach robust stability and robust performance with some precisions and has a satisfactory control effect.
