Implementation Of IP-Based ADSL CPE System Software

ADSL, a new modem technology, converts existing twisted-pairtelephone lines into access paths for multimedia and high speed data communications. ADSL transmits 8Mbps to a subscriber, and as much as 640 Kbps more in up direction. Such rates expand existing access capacity by a factor of 50 or more without new cabling. ADSL will play a crucial role over the next ten or more years.This paper presents the structure of IP-based ADSL CPE system, especially the software , including the driver of the ADSL MODEM and the GUI. This paper describes in details how to write WDM driver, how to call Windows USB driver, how to call driver in the GUI, how to process ARP, PPPoE, PPP, IP, and the interface to NDIS and USB.
