Study On The Qmail Mechanism And The Design And Development Of Qmail Management System

With the rapid development of network application, setting up email system of secure, effective and convenient management has been determined as the direction of the modern enterprise information management. More and more large and medium-sized enterprises chose the qmail among lots of the email system in UNIX system.Adopting the email management system of "East Sea bridge project management information system (ESBP-MIS)", which is in the charge of Shanghai juyee science & technology development Co., Ltd., this paper studies the special characters of qmail, and sets up the qmail Management System (qMS) based on the qmail kernel for the project. The solutions to the problems in the design are discussed. This paper firstly analyses the mechanism of qmail, summarizes its difference with another Mail Transfer Agent, including the qmail's QMTP, set-up system, individualization and security. According to the author's analyses based on much material, the qmail's substrate function is very complex and the user had to operated command, but the project have a good many participator, they have large numbers of email needs delivery with shortcut, secure, these disadvantages influence administrators' work efficiency. To solve these problems, the author set up the qmail Management System based on the qmail kernel (qMS). The qMS has five modules, including init, test, checking management and help. At the same time it offers GUI to the qmail administrators. Use the qMS, the email system administrators can effective manage the qmail, for example, send email, incept email, check maillog, etc. In a word, the qMS not only reduces the email system administrators' labor intensity, but also promotes their work efficiency, and then promotes the enterprise's economic benefit. At present, the qMS in power plant in ESBP-MIS has gone to function, and the email system administrator likes to use the qMS.
